There are times when a tooth is so badly damaged or decayed that it cannot viably be treated by endodontic therapy. A patient with a tooth in this condition might need a dentist like Dr. Louis Migliazzo to extract whatever remains of the root and suture the gums.

After the treatment-based extraction he will likely provide you a prescription for any necessary pain medication or antibiotics. Taking them as directed will help speed the recovery process, address infection concerns and alleviate lingering pain.

Once all the affected tissues have fully healed he might be able to replace the tooth with a dental bridge. This is essentially artificial tooth fused into one solid piece of dental work. The dental bridge will include an open dental crown on each end. It will eventually be anchored onto abutments formed from the two closest teeth.

This calls for removing the tooth enamel layer from each tooth neighboring the void. Then an impression of the area will be sent to a dental lab, where your dental bridge will be created.

You will need to return to Dr. Migliazzo for a follow-up appointment to have the dental bridge cemented onto its anchoring abutments.

If you live in the Tucson, Arizona, area and you have a badly compromised tooth, you should call 520-323-7550 to seek treatment at the dental offices of Louis Migliazzo, DDS.
